An explanation: I got sucked down the rabbit hole and made both in one night. Then, I completely botched the scheduling. I don’t know if I will repost tomorrow when it was supposed to.
After my recent post on a startlingly pristine 1983 Dodge Shelby Charger, a local Oppo, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , mentioned that the dealership is known for carrying some strange inventory. And holy crap is he right!
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Alongside that unlikely slow Shelby lies a number of other out-of-place classics. And also some that are not so classic, from Honda minibikes to a 28,000 mile Ford Tempo . Their mainstay seems to be big American sedans and ex-police cars. However, they appear to stock literally any vehicle that is very good condition, no matter how old, obscure, or difficult to sell it might be, and all at exorbitant prices. Many of these 40 year old 40k mile cars are mixed in with high mileage minivans! Just who are selling to anyways?
So without further adieu, I give you the best of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
!!! UNSUPPORTED LINE BREAK IN HEADER !!!
I don’t know what I am looking at so allow me to let the dealer tell you.
Just in is this quite unique 1-owner never raced or wreaked 1-of-1 set up like this street legal & tagged & Georgia registered as a 1960 Ford Lola factory Legend Thrunder Roadster! This has so many up-grades & features over the standard Thunder Roadster so take a close look and see what your buying! This originally was built from factory new to be raced in the “LEGEND THUNDER ROADSTER SERIES”
This hot rod has the high revving ultra strong Yamaha 140hp 1250cc liquid cooled sealed 4cyl with tri-carb set up & rarley seen sequential 5-speed manual.
I really can’t figure this single seat track toy out. And the asking price? $21,000!
These guys need to learn how to photograph an interior!
!!! UNSUPPORTED LINE BREAK IN HEADER !!!
That last car was interesting and carried a hefty price tag. But what do you get for $18,000? Why, a 78,000 mile ‘91 F150, of course! What other car is included? Why none, of course! Why are you walking away?
!!! UNSUPPORTED LINE BREAK IN HEADER !!!
Well, this is about as unexpected as that Tempo. Just a normal K car, but in immaculate condition. But still, $5,000 seems a little steep. Where do they find these things? And who buys these things off them? Apparently they make enough profit to stay in business somehow.
!!! UNSUPPORTED LINE BREAK IN HEADER !!!
This Pulsar may have 120,000 miles on the clock, but it hardly looks broken in. And, a 5 speed manual! Sadly it does not have the optional wagon top to replace the removable trunk/hatch thing with. I’m starting to get annoyed with their crappy photography.
!!! UNKNOWN HEADER TYPE (MULTI-LINE BREAK?) !!!
I have no words for this mid 80s excess. How did someone get this to 100k miles without a scratch? The only noticeable wear I see is the driver’s dead pedal. This one has been sold, but I guess they kept it on their website for a keepsake.

I suspect the dealer has an in with a probate lawyer or similar - these are “grandma/grandpa are gone, let’s sell the house, who cares about the rest” cars.
Spirit is very similar to my driver’s ed car, if only it was blue. Pulsar is pretty cool too, along with the truck, but as usual, he’s 30-50% overpriced. Best deal I have seen so far was that Accord.

Ditto, had a similar drivers ed car. Everyone always tried to get the one with the working radio that the instructor didn’t know existed.

I’m old enough where it was nearly new when I drove it. The other driver’s ed car in the fleet was a Fairmont - seemed ancient even then, and apparently had a stalling issue. I lucked out and was in a group that got the new car, and the instructor let us listen to the radio on highway driving sections , I remember it vividly for some reason.

I can’t say how old they were for me, but the radios were all SUPP OSED to be disabled.

The 65 Buick Special for me. It’s got some question marks (and I’m virtually certain the odometer has rolled over despite their claim), but I once owned a sister to this car (Skylark convertible, same year). Tentatively not a horrible price, but a bit high.

Your idea makes a lot of sense. And if so, they’re getting these cars cheap and gouging on the back end. High margin, low volume.

That Thunder Roadster is fantastic, I would have never thought to make one street legal. NP for what it is.

I also suspect it is a dealer with a lot of space (GA, land is worthless, just put up a pole building), so he can keep them as long as he wants.

Maybe not even that. I’ve been to estate sales where amazing things are sold for a pittance just to clear out the house. Many people just don’t care, they want it gone to get the real estate windfall and be done with it.

There was a 5 speed Fox Mustang convertible, if that's what you mean. I'm on my phone so you would have to go through their website

I lost about 2.5 hours before I even hit publish. I went ahead and link copied to a draft the interesting stuff to make it easier, but I'll make at least one more so you can keep your productivity

I know what you mean. Also relevant: my horrified reaction to seeing a bowl of misc house keys for sale at my grandfather’s estate sale (he just had to downsize, and my cousins didn’t change the locks when they bought it).
Also, I messed up and accidentally put both posts at the same time. Reaction has been so positive that I am unsure of whe ther to keep it up.

Just leave em both. As someone said, it’s a very Oppo car lot, people like the content.
I’ve seen family correspondence, family photos, etc at estate sales, boggles the mind.

If I was a rich man I’d run a dealership call “Just for Fun Autos” and is only buy and sell cars I think are cool. Basically and excuse to constantly buy cars and employ my own skill auto technician

Exactly!
And More 1970-2010 less 1880-1920
Also less “actual business” more of a way to sell the cars I get bored with for retail prices.

The S pirit brings back some memories of a 1990 Dynasty. It was on the same colors. White exterior, blue interior, and blue/white smoke trailing behind.
I still say it was a Mercy that I crashed it, and lucky no one got hurt.
